What Is a Billable Unit (BU)?

vScope products are licensed by Billable Units. The Billable Unit licensing within each product determines the maximum number of items vScope can display. The list of BU corresponding each product is as follows:

Certificate

1 BU = 1 web (SSL) certificate

Client

1 BU =  1 client OS (found by client-OS probe, such as WMI or SSH)

Cloud

1 BU = 1 Azure or Amazon EC2 virtual machine

Container

1 BU = 1 Docker Container

Database

1 BU = 1 database (MS SQL, MySQL) or schema (Oracle)

Directory

1 BU = 1 user account (local and domain accounts)

Mobile

1 BU = 1 mobile OS (Android, iOS, iPadOS)

Network

1 BU = 1 network connected device (found by SNMP), including switches, access points etc. (Printers excluded)

Printer

1 BU = 1 printer (found by SNMP)

Server

1 BU = 1 server OS (found by a server-OS probe, such as WMI or SSH)

Storage

1 BU = 1 concrete storage pool

Virtualization

1 BU = 1 virtual machine or virtualization host
